BOB COLACELLO: WORKING WITH WARHOL
Sunday, February 3rd, 2pm | 34 Avenue A (between 2nd and 3rd streets) 3rd Floor
Bob Colacello was editor of Andy Warhol's Interview from 1970 to 1983. During that time he also ghost wrote Andy's books, sold Andy's art, organized Andy's social life, and published a mock society column in Interview called OUT. He is a longtime Special Correspondent for Vanity Fair and the author of several books, including "Holy Terror: Andy Warhol Close Up" and "Ronnie and Nancy: Their Path to the White House."
His talk, "Working With Warhol," will recollect his years as one of the Pop artist's closest collaborators, as well as grapple with the meaning and significance of the Warhol oeuvre and phenomenon from a contemporary point of view.

Falling Apart Exhibition & Book Release @ Guest Spot at the Reinstitute, Baltimore
Falling Apart Exhibition & Book Release
New Work by Carl Gunhouse
In the Project Space: Small Studies in Orientation by Max Guy
Guest Spot at the Reinstitute (1715 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, MD 21202)
Opening & Book Signing: February 9th, 7-10PM
February 9th through March 23rd
Hours: Saturdays 1-5PM & Wednesdays 5-7PM or by appointment
Guest Spot is proud to present a solo exhibition of photoraphy by Carl Gunhouse, and the release of his 2nd monograph Falling Apart published by Waal-Boght Press.
The Pop-up Exhibition: Falling Apart draws on Carl Gunhouse's academic background as graduate student in American history to investigate the way in which history tends to affect our perception of current events. The work is culled from images made over six years of wandering across America, a path based on intuition and the chase of the occasional historic event. This journey began in the crumbling of the Bush presidency and continued through Obama’s first term, witnessing the unraveling of American prosperity and the long slog of dealing with the repercussions. The resulting work lacks the grandiosity of journalism and its constant hysteria for the now and instead exposes the little visual bits of America that are left to history and give voice to our shared experience.
Signed copies of Falling Apart will be available for purchase for $25.00 at Guest Spot and online at www.WaalBoghtPress.info
IN LOVING MEMORY: A MIKE KELLEY RETROSPECTIVE
IN LOVING MEMORY: A MIKE KELLEY RETROSPECTIVE
Recreations of Mike Kelley works by : Colleen Asper, Devon Dunhill Clap, Lindsey Dickson, Kate Ferencz, Ben Furgal, Brian Galderisi, and Justin Samson
FEBRUARY 7 - 25 2013
OPENING RECEPTION:
Thursday February 7th, 6-11PM
DAY IS DONE BY MIKE KELLEY
Thursday January 31st 8PM
"In Loving Memory" will feature recreations of Mike Kelley works by seven artists. Kelley had a vastly influential career that spanned three decades of writing, music, painting, sculpture, photography, installation, performance and video. It seemed like he could do anything and that there was no level of success he couldn't attain - at least when measured by conventional art-world standards. He was represented by one of the largest galleries in the world and had an impressive list of museum shows behind as well as ahead of him at the time of his death. This is odd, considering that once said that he became an artist because he wanted to be a failure. When he committed suicide almost exactly a year ago, it seemed like it might have been too much success that killed him. It feels appropriate to us that we should pay our last respects to him in our comparatively small artist-run gallery space in Philadelphia.
Kelley's work often dealt with memory, including repressed or inaccurate memories. With his inspiring ability to work in seemingly any discipline he took interest in, he often made things that bore little or no aesthetic resemblance to each other. As a result, even though consistent conceptual themes run throughout his work, the idea of who Mike Kelley was as an artist can vary greatly from person to person. In loving memory, each of the artists in this show are recreating the work that they remember best.
On January 31st, in advanced of the exhibition and to celebrate the one year anniversary of Mike Kelley's death, we will be screening his feature length film, Day Is Done.
